Dyslexia Connection: Call for Submissions

Dyslexia Connection is a monthly e-newsletter provided for the parent members of the International Dyslexia Association. We strive to make sure parents are educated about every aspect of dyslexia from assessment to intervention to school life to social interactions.

What are the qualities of an ideal article?

Helpful

In everything we publish, we seek to help parents understand some aspect of their child’s learning disability. We want this newsletter to be filled with those ah-ha moments to let parents know they aren’t alone.

Welcoming

Our tone is down-to-earth and easy to understand. We don’t use technical terms without explaining what those words mean. We want to arm parents with information.

Hopeful

We also seek success stories. Are you an adult with dyslexia who has found success? Has your child overcome something that may inspire other parents? Share your successes with us!

Types of published material

We are looking for:

  • Professional articles from dyslexia specialists in all fields as long as the tone and vocabulary is both appropriate for and helpful to parents.
  • Parent articles about the struggles you or your child has overcome and how that happened.
  • Adult articles about personal struggles with dyslexia and how you overcame those struggles.

What are we not publishing?

We do not publish fiction, individual reviews on specific therapies or methods, book or product reviews.

How to Submit

All articles are received on speculation. We will respond to all submissions when they are being reviewed. If your article is selected for publishing, we will email you in advance with the month we will be publishing and the permalink.

Please submit the complete article in an attached Word document or in the body of the email. Please include an article title, author’s name, email address, and a two-sentence bio and send to Jamie Richardson, Dyslexia Connection content editor.
