In the most recent issue of Perspectives on Language and Literacy, Youman and Mather report that “As of December 2015, 28 states had statewide dyslexia laws, 6 states had initiatives or resolutions related to dyslexia, and 14 states had handbooks or resource guides to inform parents and educators about proper procedures for students in the public and private educational settings.”
The theme editors of the issue, Charlotte G. Andrist and Deborah Lynam, invited authors to inform readers about accomplishments in dyslexia legislation since 1985 and to encourage and support all those beginning or striving to make progress toward legislative change in their respective states.
