IDA Stands in Solidarity with Black Lives Matter

The International Dyslexia Association, Inc. (IDA) has zero tolerance for racism and violence in all forms and we are adamantly opposed to the social inequities that affect communities of color. We stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and others denouncing these systemic injustices.

We also know that making this declaration is not enough. IDA must examine and understand the complex and enduring factors that contribute to the recent tragedies that have taken place and reflect on how we can do more to help end them.

Education is an essential pillar in achieving social justice.  Now more than ever, IDA is committed to erasing the racial disparities that impede receiving the quality education all our children deserve. Our mission is to advocate for and empower all struggling readers, particularly those with dyslexia. We can and will do more to ensure that all students get effective literacy instruction.

We believe reading is a civil right and reaffirm our commitment to work “until everyone can read” regardless of socioeconomic status, ethnicity or race.
