The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) is seeking passionate, skilled leaders to help advance our mission and vision: Structured Literacy in Every Classroom. We are now accepting interest from individuals who would like to be considered for service on the IDA Board of Directors.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise and leadership to a global movement committed to ensuring that all individuals, especially those with dyslexia, have access to the instruction and support they need to read and thrive.

Who Should Consider This Opportunity?

We are looking for individuals from diverse backgrounds who bring a commitment to equity, a passion for literacy, and professional experience that aligns with our goals.  IDA is especially interested in leaders who have experience in:

  • Nonprofit governance
  • Global Engagement
  • Policy and legislative engagement
  • Research and academic scholarship
  • Education leadership and program design
  • Marketing, communication and brand strategy
  • Building networks and partnerships
  • Finance, accounting, and strategic planning
  • Philanthropy, development, and grant writing
  • Higher Education Administration

Prior board experience is strongly desired but not required.

Commitment

Board members are expected to:

  • Participate in bi-monthly virtual board meetings and one in-person meeting

  • Serve on at least one board committee or working group

  • Contribute time, talent, and resources to support the mission

  • Represent IDA’s values and strategic priorities in all engagements

What is the Process?

  1. Complete the Interest Survey – This brief survey helps us get to know your background, skills, and reasons for wanting to serve. It should take less than 5 minutes to complete.  Start the Interest Survey Here.

  2. Invitation to Apply – Selected individuals will be invited to complete the full board application.

  3. Application Review & Selection – Final candidates will be reviewed by the Board Nominations Committee.
