Work Begins on the IDA Certification Exam

On September 25 and 26, 2014, a group of 11 experts, representing states across the country and varied experiences with Structured Literacy, met in Kansas City, MO, at the headquarters of Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc. This knowledgeable and passionate group constituted the IDA Exam Advisory Committee and was charged with creating a job task analysis. That is, the committee made judgments about critical information required for an effective teacher of reading.

The committee’s job task analysis will be used to create a survey that will be sent to a large sample of practitioners. These practitioners will evaluate the importance of the survey items as related to effective Structured Literacy instruction. With the results from the survey, test specifications will be created, and then the writing of items for the IDA Certification Exam will begin.
