Conference Internship – Fall 2014 Semester (2 positions available)

The purpose of the Conference Internship is to offer undergraduate students interested in the fields of events, meetings, fundraising and communications the opportunity to learn hands on skills and build your resume.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

Manage social networks for conferences, events, and other happenings at IDA via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and microsites.

Develop and implement new marketing initiatives and approaches for conference and event promotion.

Manage the Scholarship Program.

Manage the Art Gallery Program.

Manage session opening entertainment.

Assist with planning of bi-annual Board and Branch meetings (as needed).

Manage conference email inbox and voicemail.

Assist with various aspects of event planning duties as needed for the annual conference, family conference and events.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as ability to create and manage social networking accounts.

Experience with event planning in some capacity is preferred.

Coursework in marketing, PR, event planning, or similar fields is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/SCHEDULE

Fall 2014 Semester; exact dates based on student’s schedule/needs

Days and hours are flexible but will need to fall between business hours 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Outside of normal hours, students will be expected to attend the annual conference in San Diego, California which will cause them to miss classes November 9-15, 2014.

COMPENSATION/CREDIT

The internship is unpaid but all expenses will be covered for onsite meetings, conference and events.

The internship may be used for college credit; we will serve in a supervisor capacity and complete all necessary paperwork for the student to make that happen.
