The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) administers the Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI), which assesses educators’ foundational knowledge in Structured Literacy as outlined in the IDA Knowledge and Practice Standards. KPEERI serves as a benchmark for understanding evidence-based reading instruction and supports educators in addressing the needs of students with reading difficulties, including dyslexia.
To further advance their expertise, educators may pursue certifications awarded only to those who have demonstrated the ability to positively impact the reading growth of students identified as “at risk” for reading failure or with a Specific Learning Disability, including dyslexia. These certifications are offered through organizations such as the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) and other recognized certifying bodies.
