2018 IDA Remy Johnston Certificate of Merit Recipient Profiled by Local Publication

Ainsley Proctor, the 2018 IDA Remy Johnston Certificate of Merit recipient, was recently profiled by The Virginian-Pilot for her accomplishments. The award was established to honor the memory of Remy Johnston, a student with dyslexia whose promising life was tragically cut short in February 1989. Each year, the award goes to a student with dyslexia who is a worthy role model, refuses to use his or her learning difference as an excuse, strives for excellence, and enriches the community. Ainsley exemplifies these attributes, and not only avoids using dyslexia as an excuse, but rather advocates for better legislation and student support. Read The Virginia-Pilot article to learn more about Ainsley’s many accomplishments and important advocacy work.
