What to Bring:

Driving to and parking at the Capitol:
We usually use the Pete Hackney Parking Deck (162 Jesse Hill Jr Drive SE). Waze will get you there. The cost is $10 and CREDIT CARD only. Other directions/parking options are nearby. If you do park on the street, plan to have the ParkMobile app on your phone to pay for parking.
From the Pete Hackney parking deck, you may walk outside on the street to the Capitol (206 Washington Street). To access the (covered) walking sky bridges from Pete Hackney, take the elevators to the 5th floor. Take the 1st bridge to the Butler Parking Deck. Take the 2nd set of elevators to the Bridge Level. Take the 2nd bridge into the Floyd Building. You will have to go through security at the Floyd Building and cross the lobby and exit to the street.

MARTA: Georgia State Station. Exit station through Floyd Building and walk across street to the Capitol.

Once inside the Capitol, you must show your ID and run personal items through the metal detector. You will be on the 1st floor. Take the elevators or stairs to the 2nd floor to find room 230.

1/4/2024 MESSAGE FROM DDGA: Mark your calendars for Dyslexia Day 2024! It will be Wednesday, January 31st at the Georgia State Capitol from 8:30 AM- 1:30 PM. We plan to invite legislators to join us for lunch, have a group photo on the Capitol staircase and meet our legislators to #SayDyslexia. Families are welcome and for students of all ages, this is a great way to engage in the legislative process and see our state government in action.
We do have some needs which parents can easily fill by signing up to bring some food items listed in the Sign Up Genius here (and bring the day of!). We also are glad to receive donations with the help of International Dyslexia Association Georgia Branch @idageorgia to support this great day of outreach.

12/2023 MESSAGE FROM DDGA: Add your company/school to the list of Community Partners for Dyslexia Day at the Capitol on January 31, 2024. We put together signage that is at the event to recognize our Community Partners, and we do ask you to consider donating to the costs associated with putting on our event via a Sign Up Genius in early January; we do not require you to make a donation to participate as a Community Partner, but we greatly appreciate it if you do.

Decoding Dyslexia Georgia is an independent, grassroots, volunteer-based group that does not have any outside funding, save for what we ask our Community Partners to contribute. Thank you for supporting our work across Georgia.
