Speech, Language and Dyslexia: Understanding the Relationship between Dyslexia and Communication Disorders
November 21, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
FreeJoin IDA-Arizona’s Heather Caska, M.S., CCC-SLP & Anna Sosa, Ph.D., CCC-SLP via Zoom on Saturday, November 21 at 12:00 pm EASTERN TIME.
Speech-language pathologists play a vital role in identifying and supporting children with dyslexia. Many children with dyslexia have speech sound disorders as well as language deficits, which are often the earliest warning signs that a child may struggle with the development of literacy skills. Understanding how these disorders are related helps us recognize risk factors, allowing for early identification of children at risk. We will also chat with Dr. Anna Sosa, Associate Professor at Northern Arizona University about her perspective as both an SLP and a parent of a child with dyslexia.
All attendees will be muted during the webinar. Please use the Q&A for questions. IDA-AZ will do their best to answer questions during the Q&A portion of the webinar.
Feel free to email us at the Georgia Branch if you have questions that remain unanswered after the webinar.
