Map Your Way to Reading and Spelling Success

This webinar, Map Your Way to Reading and Spelling Success, is designed to help you learn the value and necessity to teach orthographic mapping. The orthographic mapping within a structured literacy approach can be dynamite.   Improve the ability of students with dyslexia to effortlessly recognize words through the mapping of speech sounds or phonemes to grapheme patterns. Orthographic mapping assists students with reading fluency and spelling difficulties, but benefits all students. Participants will leave the training with practical orthographic mapping routines and a sample progression for teaching these skills. Orthographic mapping can be integrated at both the primary and secondary levels to assist students in attaining proficient reading and spelling skills.

Speaker: Andrew Stetkevich

Andrew Stetkevich, M.A. has worked for over 39 years in the field of elementary and secondary education. He has served as a K-12 classroom teacher, special education program specialist, literacy coach, parent educator, dyslexia tutor, and a staff development specialist. Mr. Stetkevich is a national consultant for Language Circle/Project Read and the Bureau of Education and Research Organization. He is an active member of the International Dyslexia Association. Mr. Stetkevich has spoken at numerous national conferences, including the Ireland International Conference on Education, International Dyslexia Association, the British Dyslexia Association, and the European Conference on Literacy. Additionally, Mr. Stetkevich has taught special education assessment and methods graduate-level courses at both California Baptist University and the University of California, Riverside Extension programs. Mr. Stetkevich has 3 grown children and currently resides in Riverside, California, USA with his wife of 35 years.
