In this webinar, Tatyana Elleseff, MA, CCC-SLP will review current controversies pertaining to the validity of assessment and treatment of auditory processing disorder (APD). She will discuss how this diagnostic label results in professionals discounting true language and literacy deficits in students who require appropriate language and literacy assessment and targeted language and literacy intervention services.

At the end of this presentation, learners will be able to

1. List ‘APD’-related symptoms and describe their overlap with other disorders as per APD testing results

2. Describe the current controversy pertaining to ‘APD’ diagnosis

3. Discuss how speech-language pathologists can assist students with “processing deficits” with respect to language and literacy assessment and intervention
